Fundamentals of ECG Rhythm Interpretation

Target Audience: Nurses and other healthcare professionals caring for clients undergoing cardiac monitoring.

Description: This class has been developed to help students improve their understanding or refresh their knowledge of ECG rhythm interpretation. Topics will include: 

  • Anatomy of the heart
  • Functions of key electrical components
  • Proper ECG lead placement
  • Identification features of normal waveforms
  • Waveform segment measurement
  • Rhythm Identification - Sinus, Atrial, Junctional, Ventricular, and Lethal 
  • Differentiate types of AV Blocks

Requirements for Successful Completion:  
Your certificate will be available once all modules have been completed which includes: 

  • Submission of pretest
  • Review of all presentations found in modules
  • Submission of posttest with a final score of 80% or higher 
  • Completion of the online evaluation

You will be given two opportunities to pass the posttest. If you are unable to pass after the second try, it is suggested to repeat the course. You will need to re-register and re-pay. 

You may go back at any time throughout the course to review completed modules, but you will not be allowed to continue until all module requirements are met.

Clarkson College Professional Development is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
